Over the years now, most Facebook users have been complaining of their account being hacked by hackers.
Moreover, some of these hackers use special information which was gotten from your account through you by mistake or with technical means.
Most of these means where just simply because you logged in your account to a device or some websites which you unintentionally gave access to your account information.
Nevertheless, here are “5 Possible Ways Of Safe Guarding Your Facebook Account”
1) Take Note Of Devices You Use
Many of us, we all do this whereby we logged our accounts into our friend’s phone just simply because we needed to check out some few things on Facebook and after that we logged out but forgetting to remove our accounts from that device. As we have it today, Facebook now saves our passwords on each device we logged onto, making it easy for one to login back without the need of the account’s password.
Right now you don’t know who or who is gonna be opportune to operate that device as well the Facebook app, putting your account at risk to any foreign operators of that device.
That’s why it is important to always remove your account from any device (not your own) after logging out but if you’re not sure of what device you may have logged into, simply follow this instruction below;
Under Settings > Security and Login, Facebook shows a section called ‘Where you’re logged in’. This section lists all the devices (laptop, phone, tablet etc.) on which you have logged in to your Facebook account.
Remove any devices you don’t recognise or don’t have access to anymore. If you’re unsure of the status of certain devices, we recommend that you use the ‘Log out of all sessions’ option, and log in afresh. This will ensure no one else has access to your Facebook account.
2) Always Check Your Information
From time to time, you are advised to always check your information regarding what activities was performed on your account.
This can help in detecting if your account was been toyed with by someone else and also it can prevent further damages like lost of your account.
Checking your “Activity Information” is quite simple. Just follow this instruction if you don’t know where to locate it.
When you open your Facebook account settings, you will notice a new menu item on the left – ‘Your Facebook information’. Facebook has consolidated access to all of your information on a single page. You can view information about you by category (posts, photos, comments, likes, etc.) and download any information you want. You can even view and manage your activity log from this page and control which of your activities appear on your friends’ timelines.
3) Control Your Third Party Login
The majority of websites and apps give you the option to log in using your Facebook account instead of creating a new account from scratch. While this makes things easier, we often forget to revoke Facebook access for these third-party apps and websites when we stop using them.
Head to Settings > Apps and websites. You will see a list of all the active apps and websites that have access to your Facebook account. You can choose the apps you want to remove from the list, as well as delete any posts that a particular app or website might have published on your behalf.
4) Manage Your Facebook Data
In the Facebook Information page, you also have a shortcut to ‘Manage your data’. When you access this feature, you need to select if you want to manage data on Facebook or Instagram. For Facebook, you get advanced control on how and where Facebook uses any of your data. You can manage your location data, control contacts uploaded to Facebook, face recognition setting, ad preference and various other features. This helps a lot.
5) Make Your Friends Authenticators
If Facebook detects an unrecognised login or
hacking attempt, it will lock down your account, and you wouldn’t be able to access it. The process to regain access to your account used to be a long one and complicated one, but now Facebook allows you to simply choose up to five trusted friends who can help you regain access to your account. Go to Settings > Security and login > Choose friends to contact, and select at least three people from your friend list. If you get locked out, these friends can send you verification codes for authentication to help you regain access to your account.
Most times, we hardly keep note of our friends, thereby we send numerous Friend Request to people we hardly know, just because he/she pretty and handsome. LOL!
But on a normal note, I advised you keep note of friends you have Facebook, it helps when trying to get your account back.
These are just few simple ways of keeping your Facebook account secured but there are more advanced methods hackers do use these days in hacking people’s accounts but that will be discussed some other time. So, I advised you again that you keep coming back to this site to check for more updates on how to safe guard your Facebook account.
Happy Social Experience!!!
